National Stand-Down for Fall Safety

Most contractors consider safety important but as an overhead expense. Not Tommy Ruttura, Ruttura & Sons Construction in New York, who at a recent ASCC Safety Council meeting said he considers safety as a profit center—since it saves him a lot of money in lost time and insurance costs.

This week everyone in the construction business has an opportunity to treat safety with that sort of seriousness during the national Stand-Down for Fall Safety. The Department of Labor estimates that more than 1 million workers are joining OSHA this week (June 2-6) for a safety stand down “focusing on saving lives and preventing fatalities from falls in the construction industry.”
